Picnic in the Mountains

Sunday Tyler had his first Picnic at Metcalf Bottoms to celebrate Memorial Day and Kaleigh's Graduation

This is where Tyler and I spent most of our time, on a blanket playing in the shade!

Since we didn't get to go to Kaleigh's actual graduation bc of some scheduling conflicts...like her telling us the wrong date mostly, we celebrated with her this weekend. We always enjoy getting to see the girls anytime they can get down for a visit.

Besides the fact we were eaten alive by the bugs, we had a great time and are very thankful for the opportunity to spend time together.

Memorial Day Cook out

Kim and Brian had us all over for a Memorial Day Cook-out Saturday afternoon. This is the first time Tyler and Ben have been in the pool together. They seemed to enjoy themselves. I love watching them play together, I hope they will grow up to be great friends. I am sure they will!

Brian...The Grill Master in Action...and might I add he did a fantastic job, he fixed tons of food! Grilled Chicken, Brats, Hot dogs, Hamburgers...the works!

Sadie with her Aunt Kim...She was Kim's shadow all evening. It was great to see Chris, Risha, and the girls, they are such beautiful little girls!

Field Day

Thomas had his field day this past week and I was excited to get to be with him to watch!

They don't really compete like I remember we did back in the day. But they still had fun. Here they are doing the Frisbee toss. And for the record if they actually acknowledged winners Thomas did throw his the farthest!

This is a soccer ball kicking contest to see who could get it down the field and back the quickest which he also won...personally I don't see whats wrong with competition.

 

In the Hula-hoop contest the boys kept it going the longest which was cracking me up...I thought the girls would be able to keep it going the longest but those boys had it going on...I wish I had video taped that part it was hilarious. Thomas gets his moves from his daddy!

Then they jumped through them like little frogs...

 

And finally they had to take a kool-aide break to rest and cool off! Thomas was tapping kool-aide bottles with his buddies saying "cheers" not sure where he picked up on that one!

My little worker...

Thomas has been putting his leaf blower to good use. He has blown off the porch and our driveway and deck over and over again! He can even crank it up himself. Needless to say he loves it!

Kindergarten Program and Graduation

 Tonight was Thomas' kindergarten program and graduation. The theme was mother goose nursery rhyme party and Thomas' class performed Old King Cole. They were so cute and did a great job. The boys dressed like Kings and the girls were Queens as you can see!

 During this part of the program Thomas was being awarded a gold medal for completing the 100 word club and becoming a reader this year!

 After the program we surprised Thomas with a special dinner at The Brewery (one of his favorite dining spots) to celebrate this year and his accomplishments. He even got balloons, a cake, and some gifts! He was eating up being the guest of honor!

 His Nana and Pa got him his very own baseball bat, with ball and glove! (this is something he has been asking for every since the church softball game a few weeks back)

 Thomas was really giving out the hugs tonight!

 

 Grandmom and Grandaddy gave him a cap gun and pistol set! Also a very big hit!

 And his present from us...a leaf blower...yes a real gas powered leaf blower! This kid has been begging for one of these forever!!! And he and his daddy worked out a deal a very long time ago that if he did really good this year and did all his homework and learned to read that he could have his very own leaf blower for kindergarten graduation! This kid would rather work than eat. He cannot wait to start using it! Titus assures me this will be safe for him to use under supervision...I sure hope so!

 And even though it was late and past bed time when we got home of course Thomas wanted to try out everything he got...We made a deal to try just ONE thing...and seeing as how there is no way I was running through the yard chasing a baseball in the dark and for sure not cranking up a leaf blower going to the porch to play with the new cap gun seemed to be the best choice. I thought he was going to loose his mind when he saw real sparks and smelled gun powder when he fired his new little pistol and shotgun! He thinks he is big time now for sure!

 He made sure to tell me he was the fastest gun on Eledge Lane!

 Here is Tyler being a supportive Brother...he hadn't had a decent nap all day so we couldn't believe he held up for all the festivities but he did! Like a pro...even for dinner! Maybe he'll sleep all night. Lord knows he has surely got to be tired enough!
