The Pumpkin Patch Parable

The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs is one of mine & Thomas' favorite children's books to read this time of year. The moral of the story is that Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then he carves you a new smiling face and puts his light inside you to shine for all the world to see. Thomas' day care teacher shared this story with them several years ago on a day I was able to be their for a fall celebration and it touched my heart. We bought the book and have been reading every since. If you have a little one I would definitely recommend this book.

The Fair

Who doesn't love the Fair? It doesn't get any better than your hometown fair. And of course we had lots of Candy Apples, Popcorn, Hot dogs and dinner at the Methodist Church Booth. We ran into lots of old friends and it was good times! Thomas met up with his old friend Kylee who he hasn't seen in a very long time, they were so cute, they greeted each other with a hug and they rode several rides together. They were so happy to see one another.

The guys also took us to their favorite steakhouse while they are hunting...It's called the Junkyard Dog...but it is surprising very good...

While the guys were out working on the property I took the kids four-wheeling...Good Times!

"The Moms" took the kids and went to one of my favorite places...Amber Falls Winery to celebrate the Patriot Festival they had going on.

They had food, a band, dancing, cornhole tournament, and of course fantastic wine!!

Since the husbands weren't with us we just danced with the kids....and each other :)

Thomas is pirate obsessed right now so he loved dinner at Drunken Jacks and decided we all needed to make pirate faces...

While we were at the beach on Aug 31st...Titus & I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary

Thomas made friends with the bartender and enjoyed Shirley Temple's and popcorn while we waited for our table.


Titus & Thomas played golf, I just drove the cart!

They had golf carts in the resort to take you around from place to place so of course we had to take a ride...

We visited the original Hammock Shop at Pawley's Island

We enjoyed riding bikes around the resort. They had lots of bike paths.

This was a much needed relaxing vacation. We never looked at our cell phones or a clock, we just spend good quality time together and rested. With all we have had going on in the past few weeks, this was the perfect vacation for us to spend together as a family.
